Glen O’Hara on Why Brexit Happened and What It Means

April 26, 2017

Glen O’Hara, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at Oxford Brookes University, visited ISS on April 11 and 12 to discuss the state of the field of maritime history (at the weekly colloquium) and the causes and significance of Brexit. By delving deeply into polling data and survey returns, O’Hara explored the role of immigration, political miscalculations, and media coverage in the referendum last summer. You can read more about O’Hara’s work on contemporary politics at his blog, Public Policy and the Past, and on Twitter.
