Timothy Snyder is Bird White Housum Professor of History. Among his half dozen books is Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin (Basic Books, 2010). In early 2012 will appear an intellectual history that he helped Tony Judt to compose, entitled Thinking the Twentieth Century (Penguin). His most recent book, Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning (2015) will appear in twenty-four foreign editions. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on East European history.
