Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Chunn enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1991.  In 1999, he was accepted to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via the Meritorious Commissioning Program.  Following graduation from Ground Supply Officer Course he received orders to 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa Japan.  He was assigned to 4th Marine Regiment and served in various assignments to include Supply Officer and Assistant Regiment Logistics Officer, before assuming command of Headquarters Company.   

In 2005, he was assigned to 3rd Material Readiness Bn, 3rd Force Service Support Group (3d FSSG) and assumed duties as SMU Operations Officer.  During his tour with 3d FSSG he deployed to Korea as CJ-4 Sustainment Planner.  In response to a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan, he deployed with a humanitarian relief team for Operation LIFELINE as the Logistics Officer for Combined Medical Relief Team 3.   

In 2007, he graduated Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA and was transferred to 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, CA and subsequently served as Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 1.  In 2008 he was assigned as Operations Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion 13 and deployed to Jordan for Exercise NATIVE FURY.  During WESTPAC deployment with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit he served as both Operations Officer and later Executive Officer for CLB-13.  While deployed he supported operations, exercises, and training across PACOM, CENTCOM, and AFRICOM AORs.  Highlights included extended counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin.   

After completing WESTPAC, he was assigned to 1st MLG (FWD), Regional Command Southwest, Helmond Province, Afghanistan where he served as G-3 Logistics Readiness Center OIC and later Executive Officer for CLB-6.  Returning to Camp Pendleton, he served as the Future Plans Officer, CLR-15 until he attended Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS from 2011-2012.   

Upon graduation he was transferred to United States Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, IL, and served as J-5 Strategy and Governance Division, lead military planner for Joint Enabling Capabilities and Title X Wargames.  During this tour, he deployed to Kuwait as Chief of Plans for CENTCOM Deployment Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC).  Returning to USTRANSCOM J-5 Strategy and Governance Division, he assumed duties as Branch Chief for Joint Enabling Capabilities and Wargames.   

In 2015, he joined 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa Japan and assumed duties as G-4, Materiel Readiness Branch OIC.  In 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Chunn was promoted to his present rank and assumed duties as the Deputy AC/S G-4 for 1st MAW. 

In Jun 2017, he assumed command of 3d Supply Battalion, in Okinawa Japan.  During this tour, he deployed as Deputy Arrival and Assembly Operations Group (AAOG) and Camp Commandant for Exercise FREEDOM BANNER / SANG YONG 18 in Gwanyang South Korea.  Additionally, he deployed to Taiwan as the III MEF Mobile Advisory Team leader for BLUE SEA MARINE CORPS-18.    

Lieutenant Colonel Chunn is currently assigned as the Commandant of the Marine Corps Fellow at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
